Case Aids

Case Aids assist Case Managers in providing services to clients. They also help with phone calls and scheduling appointments. 


Greeters

Greeters are used when appointments are held at satellite locations to assist with the check-in process.


Clerical Support

Clerical Support assists with data entry and filing.


Phone Volunteer

Phone Volunteer answers phone calls and retrieves/routes voicemail.


Spanish Interpreter

Spanish Interpreter provides translation services when needed.


Vietnamese Interpreter

Vietnamese Interpreter provides translation services when needed.

Elijah's Place: Grief Support Services

Volunteer Group Facilitator   

Under the direction of the Elijah’s Place Program Director, Volunteer Facilitators co-lead grief support groups for children and adults two times per month. The volunteer’s role is to present activities planned by the program director, help the children to understand how the activities relate to their grief, and help facilitate discussion among group members.

 

Licensed Facilitator

Licensed Facilitator is the on-site clinical leader and supervisor for Volunteer Facilitation on group nights. The Licensed Facilitator provides pre- and post-group briefings and is available to Volunteer Facilitators during group meetings.


Program Expansion Intern/Volunteer

Under the direction of the Elijah’s Place Program Director, Intern/Volunteer may be offered a variety of responsibilities including co-leading weekly grief support groups in schools, developing new groups for preschoolers or young adults, volunteer continuing education, special projects, and more.

 

Greeters/Kitchen Volunteer

Greeters/Kitchen Volunteers help create a warm environment for our families by welcoming clients as they arrive, arranging food and service items for the pre-group meal, and helping serve the families. Following the meal, Kitchen Volunteers help with clean-up and sanitization of the kitchen and meal areas. 


Office & Facilities Volunteer

Office volunteers serve in a variety of roles including administrative and clerical support, inventory of supplies, organization of storage areas, playground cleaning and maintenance, and other tasks.

Head Cooks - Use this model for all descriptions for volunteer positions


Head Cooks coordinate the meal for the day. Head Cooks arrive around 7:00am to get everything ready for the cooks, and can usually leave around 12:30pm. Head Cooks must be able to cook for as many as 200 people. All supplies and ingredients are provided for the meal.


Assistant Cooks

Assistant Cooks prepare the meal for the clients. One head cook is in charge of the meal and the other cooks assist with the preparations. Cooks arrive at 7:00am and usually leave at 10:00am.


Drivers

are needed to pick up donations and deliver them to the Hospitality Center. It is best if the driver has a large vehicle or a truck to transport the donations. All volunteer drivers must be pre-approved to drive. Mileage expenses are reimbursable. (follows operational hours) 


Servers

arrive at 10:00am to serve the meal. Lunch is served from 10:30am to 12:30pm. After the meal, servers help clean and are usually done by 1:00pm.

HOPE Coaches

HOPE Coaches complete intakes and re-certifications with clients, administer client satisfaction surveys and food security surveys, collect information from clients about their dietary needs and desired products and convey this information to program director, and assist the program staff with elements of case management.


Shopping Assistants

Shopping Assistants guide clients through the pantry and assist with locating products, point-out healthier options and any new items or bundles, collect information from clients about their dietary needs and desired products, and convey information to the program staff.


Checkers/Baggers

Checkers/Baggers review clients’ selections to ensure they meet shopping guidelines (i.e. number of items per household) and bag clients’ groceries.


Carriers/Runners 

Carriers/Runners clients with carrying groceries to vehicle, returning baskets to pantry, and assists checkers with needed items (ex. additional grocery bags or other supplies).



Merchandising Volunteers

Merchandising Volunteers conduct inventory of products and stock and clean pantry shelves


Market and Warehouse Assistants

Market and Warehouse Assistants unload deliveries, stock warehouse shelves, sort donated food product, prepare food boxes for curbside service


Drivers

Pick up products from the Southeast Texas Food Bank or local retailers.

General Ground/Building Maintenance (Maintenance Ministry)
